The Great War Banner Project & For The Fallen
Commissioned by The Westbury Arts Centre in Milton Keynes to develop an installation of banners for a performance marking the centenary anniversary of the beginning of the First World War. The brief was to work with the local community to create banners representing aspects of WW1, or a personal story from an individual’s family history. The banners provided a backdrop for a dance choreographed by the MOTUS Dance Company and around 100 dancers.
The banners were created by 9 different groups and many individuals through a series of workshops run by Vinny Stapley over a 9 month period.

Points of Intersection
The Points of Intersection is a public art project managed by Acuity Arts for
Allia at Cambridge's Future Business Centre.
Users and tenants of the building, funders, supporters and the immediate community, including local school children, were involved throughout in a series of workshops.
Unveiled to the public at the Future Business Centre's second birthday celebrations on 24 November 2015, The Points of Intersection reflects the Centre's social and environmental focus with a series of permanent artworks inside and outside the building by four very different artists. I was commissioned to work with both the tenants of the building and the wider community to create a series of workshops . The artwork would then be photographed and then incorporated into the artwork created by artist Helen Marshall - The Peoples Picture .
High Tide , Low Tide, Clean Tide.
Mersea Island Tales & Mersea Island School, 2017
"High Tide, Low Tide, CLEAN TIDE”, was an environmental art project in collaboration with the pupils of Mersea Island Primary School and funded by The Mersea Island Tales Educational Trust.
the Children designed their own versions of 'Sammy the Seal' , local hero, who was to be seen around the jetty staeling bacon from the crabbers. The Sculpture was created from plastics collected from the beaches of Mersea Island, by the pupils, their families and islanders, the pupils also learnt about the dangers of plastic to the marine environment in more detail .It took Vinny, the 400+ pupils and volunteer Ray Smith, nearly 4 months to create the 10ft long sculpture which was unveiled at the school on the 19th July 2017. After a summer of 'Sammy' popping up around the island to the delight of islanders and visitors, he returned to the school, where he is today.
The project was the South & Central Regional winner in the Total Oil, 'Totally Creative Competition' for the Better Energy School Awards 2018 .
'Crabtastic' 2018
Created by Artist in Residence Vinny Stapley with the pupils of Mersea Island Primary and generously supported by Mersea Island Tales Educational Trust.
Generations of families have enjoyed the timeless pursuit of crabbing on the island.
CRABTASTIC! aimed to raise awareness of the need to prevent plastics entering our beautiful island’s environment and how to crab kindly. A large installation of crabs was displayed on the waterfront in West Mersea over the summer. They were designed and created by the pupils under enthusiastic guidance of Vinny and a team of dedicated volunteers.
The installation was unveiled by Olympic Gold Medal winning sailor Saskia Clark and was featured on the ITV news.
